Nordic Choice Hotels joins Pride in Helsinki, Oslo, Copenhagen and Europride in Stockholm and Gothenburg. To show support for diversity and inclusion, the hotel rooms in the Pride cities are gender neutral during the different Pride periods.
To show its support for diversity and inclusion regardless of gender identity and orientation, Nordic Choice Hotels goes as partner to Pride and Europride. Over 600 employees participate in parades in different Nordic cities and various arrangements will be made at the hotels in the Clarion Hotel, Comfort Hotel and Quality Hotel chains during the Pride weeks.

For the past five years, Clarion Hotel, one of the Nordic Choice Hotels chains, has been a partner of Pride. This year, the whole group, with 190 hotels in the Nordic and Baltic countries, is behind the message. 2018 will also be the first year in which Europride is organized in two places, in Stockholm and Gothenburg, and organizers expect 20 percent more participants compared to previous years.
Room for everyone
In over 60 countries, it is illegal to change sex and by 2018, Europride has therefore chosen to focus on transsexual rights. With the slogan Voice of Change and recordings by Alex, a transsexual person who is walking from woman to man, Europride puts focus on everyone being allowed to be who they are.
Many transsexual people find it difficult to know if they are going to use the ladies or men’s toilet in public places. Nordic Choice Hotels wishes to show its support for this issue through the slogan “Room for All” and communicates with this toilets in the Pride cities sex-neutral during the different Pride periods.
“It’s important that people feel welcome at our hotels, regardless of how they identify. In most new hotels today the toilets are unisex, but we want to make a little extra selection under Pride to show our respect and our support for the Pride 2018 focus area, says Stordalen.
The selection is conducted at selected Pride hotels in Oslo, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinki during the respective Pride celebrations. Oslo and Helsinki Pride begins June 30, Copenhagen Pride starts August 18th, and Europride in Stockholm and Gothenburg will start on 4th and 18th August respectively.
