The Norwegian capital of Oslo is a tremendously beautiful city that sits in the eastern region of Norway. The city dates back to about 1000 years ago with a very long and fruitful history. Over the years the city has experienced many changes, and it has developed into what it is today – a shimmering bastion of culture, progression, and history.

Visit the Oslo Domkirke

This is no doubt the first place to visit when you are in the city. Well, there is some part that has been restored here but the altar and pulpit still stands still and its date way back to the origins of the church.  One thing you cannot miss in the cathedral is the organ standing at five stories high and maybe the bronze door as well. The church is used for both secular and religious concerts and events.

Tour the Royal Palace

When visit this place makes sure you spend some time here as the tour are mostly guided so you won’t miss out on the anything that holds significance within the palace. One of the moments you cannot miss when visiting is when the guards are changed and this is done daily.

 

Visit Oslo’s City Hall Radhuset

The large clock face and twin towers are some of the things that will awe you. This hall is made or designed as a red brick simple building housing frescoes and colorful murals depicting different historical, economic and cultural aspects of Norway. You will see great tapestries, paintings, sculptures and woodcarvings by famed Norwegian artists like Daffin Werenskiold, Per Krogh and Dyre Vaa not forgetting Edvard Munch.

Enjoy the Vigeland sculpture park and the Foreigner Park

Your tour is not yet complete if you don’t visit and spend some great time at a park in the city. These two parks are both free to visit and have some great art for your enjoyment. If you are an art lover one piece that will stir your emotions away are the angry baby statues and the statues of men being attacked by babies. These two parks are sure worth visit and spend time at.

Have some fun at Huk Beach

This beach is located a few kilometers from the city center on the southern tip of the Bygdoy peninsula, and it is a trendy beach in Oslo. If you are not the type that like swimming you can enjoy simple activities like strolls on the beach, bicycle trips, and swimming and there are also kiosk by the beach side that will take care of your refreshment.

Things to do in Oslo are never complete without visits to the top attractions of the city. The city has something for everyone to make any holiday stay or visit most memorable.
