Norwegian’s New Flights to Madrid Now in Service

Norwegian, the World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline and Airline of the Year 2017, has launched its first flight from the United States to Madrid. The airlines’ first-ever nonstop flight to Madrid-Barajas Airport from the U.S. departed Los Angeles International Airport Sunday night, and operates four times per week.

Additionally, service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Madrid-Barajas Airport launches July 17, and will also operate four times per week. The airline now offers nonstop, year-round routes to more European destinations from both the greater New York City area and Los Angeles, respectively, than any other airline. Last month, Norwegian also announced that direct service from Fort Lauderdale to Madrid will launch on October 30, 2018, and operate twice per week

“Spain is one of the most popular destinations for Americans, and Madrid is a city in high demand from travelers. It was a clear choice to add to our route network from both the West and East Coast as we continue to further expand our transatlantic presence. This nonstop service to Madrid also complements our Barcelona service well, which we launched a year ago and has been a great success,” said Thomas Ramdahl, Norwegian’s Chief Communications Officer.

“Madrid is a cosmopolitan and welcoming destination, and also the gateway into Spain; so Norwegian’s new year-round service between the U.S. and Madrid is excellent news for travelers. We see more and more travelers choosing Madrid as it exceeds expectations for its culture, nature, gastronomy and lifestyle. We are excited that Norwegian is offering both the East and West Coast access to such a beautiful city,” said Belén González del Val, Director and Consul for Tourism Affairs at Tourism Spain.

The new service expands Norwegian’s presence at Los Angeles International Airport to eight nonstop routes to Europe, and New York’s JFK Airport with seven nonstop routes to Europe, as well as two to the French Caribbean.

Norwegian operates one of the world’s youngest fleets, and these three new routes will be operated by brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, offering a Premium and Economy cabin. Premium includes a dedicated check-in counter, fast track security, lounge access at selected airports, large and wide recliner seats with more legroom than any other airline’s premium economy, all meals and drinks, as well additional checked-in luggage and CashPoints.
