With a new hotel of 336 hotel rooms, a long-term resident with 88 apartments and a new Swedish headquarters, Arenastaden becomes Nordic Choice Hotels’s new Sweden hub.The project begins to be built in 2018 and is scheduled to be completed for the first guests in 2021.
The Arenastad in Solna has quickly turned into one of the most dynamic districts in the Nordic region, with a wide range of events and residence for some of Sweden’s largest companies. In 2013, Nordic Choice Hotels opened its first hotel in the area, Quality Hotel Friends, now the company’s investment in Arenastaden continues. The existing hotel is being expanded and becomes Stockholm’s largest hotel with over 600 hotel rooms, a new Comfort Hotel is being built, a long-term resident is being built and the area becomes the Nordic Choice Hotels hub in Sweden as the company’s new headquarters develop.
– Arenastaden has become a hub for business, entertainment and shopping. The rate of development is impressive and through a further hotel and long-term residents, we want to create additional conditions for attracting activities to the area and increasing its attractiveness. For us, it is also the perfect place for our Swedish headquarters with close proximity to communications, to guests and partners. I am extremely pleased with the project and look forward to 2021 when we can move into our business, says Nordic Choice Hotels founder Petter A Stordalen.
The 11-storey building was designed by the White Architects and will consist of three parts: a hotel section with 336 hotel rooms, a part of 88 apartments called long-stay, a concept where people stay for a little longer periods and an office part there Nordic Choice Hotels will place its Swedish headquarters. The hotel will also accommodate restaurant and conference rooms, gym and a welcoming lobby. The planned construction start for the project is 2018 and when the hotel is ready, the district will have 1000 hotel rooms.
“The positive development of Arenastaden and not least the Friends Arena means that the need for nearby hotels is increasing. Nordic Choice Hotels initiative to the new hotel means even better conditions for Friends Arena, as well as for Mall of Scandinavia and business visitors and employees, “says Klaus Hansen Vikström, Vice President and Business Development Manager Fabege.
The hotel, which will belong to Comfort Hotels, is built at Friends Arena’s north-western corner and has a beautiful view of Råstasjön and its natural areas. The building will be a link between the arena’s large-scale events and the local life that emerges along the Evenemangsgatan.
The building will be energy-efficient and include both solar and geoenergy. During the first quarter of 2021 the first guests will be welcomed.
