2019 is a year of high activity in Oslo’s bustling hotel scene. Two hotels opened on Jernbanetorget outside Oslo Central Station earlier this year. On 1 August, Clarion Hotel Oslo opens its doors in the Bjørvika district, between the fashionable Barcode area and the new Munch Museum.
The high-end hotel puts art front and centre with its own art concierge, a gallery and curated exhibitions. Another highlight is a painting by Edvard Munch on loan from the Munch Museum that is on show in the hotel’s lobby.
Not only travellers will be able to enjoy the new hotel: Clarion Hotel Oslo seeks to be a meeting place for all of Oslo. At Shutter Bar on the ground floor of the hotel, everyone can relax with a drink on the patio next to the Akerselva river, or indoors at the fireplace. The hotel’s restaurant, Kitchen & Table Fishery, boasts a menu created by chef Marcus Samuelsson, best known as the owner of the famous Red Rooster in Harlem, New York.
