The hotel market has developed very strongly in both Sweden and Västerås in recent years and Elite Stadshotellet in Västerås made a record result in 2019.
– The market demand has been really strong in 2019. We have for several years invested in developing both the physical product with renovations and the service level. This has produced results with a record occupancy of 73% at the hotel. In addition, we are developing better than the market and continue to gain market shares, says hotel director Cem Gürler.
Demand from the private market is the strongest in the hotel sector. In terms of personal finances, the development has been very favorable during the last 10-year period and this appears to have a major effect on consumer behavior.
– The entire society is undergoing a change where more and more private funds are spent on restaurant visits, spas and trips. Consumers place higher demands on comfort and service and prioritize this when planning their trips. We see the same development both in our conference business which is growing strongly and in Bishop’s Arms, which has increased a lot both in sales and earnings, says Cem Gürler.
