The Comfort Hotel chain will arrive in Finland in 2023 when the Comfort Hotel Helsinki Airport opens. The goals are clear and tough: the chain intends to grow strongly in the Nordic countries and Finland.
In mid-September, Petter A Stordalen, owner of the Nordic Choice Hotels chain, and LAK Real Estate announced Finland’s largest hotel project ever: a two-hotel hotel complex with 718 rooms at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. One of these hotels will become part of the Comfort Hotel chain. As a result, a brand new hotel chain will enter the Finnish market offering a unique Selected Service concept.
– This is exciting news. Very often we cannot bring a new hotel chain into the country, as now when the Comfort Hotel chain arrives at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. This will benefit both the airport, which will diversify its hotel offerings, and travelers who will have more money left at check-out, says Katalin Paldeak, Chief Operating Officer of Nordic Choice Hotels.
The Comfort Hotel chain currently has 34 hotels in the Nordic and Baltic countries and is growing strongly, especially at airports. The 503-room Comfort Hotel Arlanda Airport will open in Stockholm at Arlanda Airport in late January, and in autumn 2020 the Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport at Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen will change to 604 rooms.
– We are growing soar, and I am really glad that we will have to open an excellent hotel in Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Airport hotels have traditionally been considered boring and expensive, but we show that it does not have to be. We make traveling cheaper and at the same time offer the best possible start to the journey. Opening to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, the hotel is located in a terminal building, so it is a very short distance to the gate, says Anna Spjuth, Senior Vice President of the Nordic hotel chain.
However, opening the hotel to Helsinki Airport is just the beginning.
– The Comfort Hotel chain has very ambitious goals. The hotel concept will appeal to guests as it offers affordable accommodation in city centers and airports. The hotel to be opened is our first in Finland, but it will not be the last. The most interesting cities in Finland are Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Oulu, says Katalin Paldeak.
In addition to the Comfort Hotel Helsinki Airport, the hotel will include a full-service Clarion Hotel. The hotel complex has a total of 718 rooms, restaurants, meeting rooms, a gym and bars. Construction will begin in 2020 and the hotel is scheduled to be completed in 2023. The project has a budget of € 120 million.
Nordic Choice Hotels already have Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport and GLO Hotel Airport in the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport area. When the new hotel complex is completed, the company will have four hotels in the airport area with a total of 1,045 rooms.
